Abstract
The emergence of the digital humanities has enabled scholars, artists and researchers to explore literature, culture, history and art through digital tools such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, virtual reality and multimedia platforms. Digital innovations in the twenty-first century have significantly transformed the nature of the arts and humanities by integrating technology with the creative and humanistic disciplines. Digital platforms have also democratized creative expression by making art and scholarship accessible to a wider audience across geographical boundaries. These innovations have opened up new opportunities for knowledge dissemination, cultural preservation, interdisciplinary research and global collaboration. However, along with these opportunities, digital innovations pose a number of challenges. Issues such as the digital divide, lack of technical skills, authenticity of digital content, ethical concerns and protection of intellectual property rights continue to impact the effective integration of technology into the humanities. Copyright infringement and misuse of creative content are major concerns in the digital environment. This paper examines key digital innovations that have impacted the arts and humanities, analyzes the opportunities they create and critically discusses the challenges associated with their adoption. It places greater emphasis on the role of intellectual property rights in protecting digital creativity and suggests the need for balanced, ethical and inclusive digital practices to ensure the sustainable development of the arts and humanities in the digital age.
